2005 The Long Road Home
2005
A guide to Peacebuilding Activities for displaced and returning communities ![]() This manual for displaced and returning communities was written by ICMC and supported by the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) and published in 2005. Peace building can be defined as: the process of rebuilding relationships between communities that will allow for the possibility of reintegration, and/or return to living in safety with the absence of fear that conflict will recur. "The Long Road Home" was developed in order to document lessons learned and best practices from ICMC's work on Seram and Ambon islands in Indonesia. The manual is designed for those who have an interest in learning about reconciliation and return processes between displaced and receiving communities and is a resource to assist practitioners in designing and implementing programs, it also provides options and suggestions for activities. Practical and easy to read, the manual contains helpful information for donors wanting to learn more about program implementation and design in post-conflict settings. In presenting ICMCs program experience The Long Road Home is a valuable addition to the body of knowledge available in the area of sustainable returns.
