Publications and research

ICMC produces a number of publications independently and with partners that contribute to greater awareness and protection of migrant rights, the promotion of refugee resettlement and improved assistance to vulnerable displaced people, as well as to the general understanding of the work and service of the Commission.

Additionally, ICMC frequently carries out evaluations in regions where we are working, and publishes research on issues related to our work to better inform advocacy efforts and strengthen on-the-ground programming.

“After adoption, ratification!” was the call of over 70 NGOs and labour groups from 5 continents, including migrant domestic workers, at a conference co-organized by ICMC and hosted by the International Catholic Centre of Geneva on June 3rd and 4th, 2011. Paving the way: A handbook on the reception and integration of resettled refugees

This innovative publication provides practical ideas and inspiration for facilitating integration once refugees have arrived in their country of resettlement.  It comes as the fruit of an 18-month project that linked European actors from the full spectrum of the refugee resettlement process for greater cooperation on related initiatives, with funding from the European Commission's European Refugee Fund.Read more<

Women in need of international protection

This background paper was prepared for the Caritas Internationalis conference on "The female face of migration", held in Saly, Senegal in December 2010.  It addresses displacement,and the need to integrate women’s issues in all stages of programme planning, women-oriented policies, needs assessments and data collection, and more creative needs-based programmes for women. Read more<

Working in concert: Building common ground for the global governance of migration

In the lead up to the 2010 Global Forum on Migration and Development, ICMC has released its latest report, Working in concert. The report represents a synthesis of findings borne of the informal dialogue that was held with a broad range of senior migration actors to help stimulate public discourse of the need of a global governance of migration, facilitate relevant benchmarks and encourage decision makers to take up the cause with appropriate urgency.Read more<
