Comments on the European Commission’s Green Paper on the future Common European Asylum SystemGENEVA August 2007 - "Our organisations represent Churches throughout Europe - Anglican, Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic - as well as Christian agencies particularly concerned with migrants and refugees. As Christian organisations, we uphold the dignity of the human individual and we are deeply committed to the concept of global solidarity and the promotion of a society that welcomes strangers. The movement of individuals and groups has been a constant feature of the historical reality of building societies, and this always provides for opportunities as well as challenges. We have followed the development of the EU area of freedom, security and justice closely over the last years, and thus, we highly appreciate this opportunity to comment on the future Common European Asylum System based on the European Commission's Green Paper."
