UN Committee on Migrant Workers
GENEVA 25 November 2008 - At the ninth session of the UN Migrant Workers' Committee, ICMC delivered a response to the first report submitted to the UN Committee on Migrant Workers by the Philippines, emphasizing the rights of migrant families. ICMC shares questions and concerns generated an analysis of the report from the Philippines, which includes the perspectives and experiences of ICMC Members and partners working directly with migrants and their families on the ground in the Philippines and around the world. The statement focuses on Convention rights and obligations towards both non-Filipino migrant workers and members of their families in the Philippines; as well as Filipino migrant workers and members of their families living abroad. ICMC calls attention, not only to the rights of migrants, but also to the Philippine government's obligations to them under the Migrant Workers' Convention. no |
