International meeting on the protection of childrens' rights in international migration
MEXICO D.F. 1 October 2008 - The successful protection and integration of migrant children in destination countries depends largely on their ability to be supported by their families, access assistance and be legally recognised before the law. ICMC's experience, and that of our members throughout the world, tells us that there are at least three minimum — basic — requirements needed to guarantee and improve the full protection and integration of migrant youth in destination countries: first, the recognition and protection of family unity; second, access to specialised services particularly vulnerable children; and third, recognition of legal status before the law. no |
